About This Book:
The word puzzles and activities in this book are designed to reinforce Dr. Fry's Instant Word list. Classroom teachers, reading teachers, and special education teachers will all find these materials beneficial for their students. The reproducible puzzles and activity sheets can be used to supplement your reading program and other commercial materials. You may find that some of the pages are also useful in preparing students to take standardized tests.
The section called "How to Use This Book" discusses procedures for introducing the Instant
Words to students and for using the various types of activities in this book. You will find it helpful to read through the entire section before using the materials with your students.
The Instant Words
The Instant Words comprise the most important words for reading and writing in the English language. It is absolutely impossible to read or write anything without knowing at least some of these words. The word list is based on research that revealed that 50 percent of all written material is composed of just the first 100 Instant Words. The first 300 Instant Words make up
